“Then, as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and donations, He said, “These things which you see—the days will come in which not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down.””Luke 21:5-6 (NKJV)
This was an interesting passage. I found it interesting because as I read it, I began to ponder how in life, things always change. The religious establishment of Jesus‘ day was so very proud of their temple as if it alone preserved there well being and way of life. Even though they were occupied by the Roman government they were confident their temple would outlive that occupation. Yet we know that in as little as 40 years the temple would be destroyed.
I think what the Lord was saying to me is this. My confidence needs to be in something much more stable than a building that can be destroyed. Of course that got me thinking about an old hymn. “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness!” I am so thankful that I can have a personal relationship with the living God. He can never be destroyed!
Thank you Father for reminding me of this incredible truth! If ever I wander into the paths of fear, remind me again that You are steadfast and I have no reason to fear! Thank you for Your great love and faithfulness. Thank you that you can never be destroyed. I will hope in you!
