Today’s Reading

Job 31-32; Galatians 5-6

Key Verse(s)

14 . . . God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ . . .

Galatians 6:14 (NKJV)

So many good things in the reading today. (But I had to choose only one.) I think I chose this one one because I really recognize that without Christ’s sacrifice upon the cross, I am hopelessly empty of any good thing.

I can never let this notion fade to the background. It is the very essence of my life and that of every person past, present and future. My accomplishments mean nothing compared to the sacrifice and provision of Christ. When I begin to think of myself as having accomplished anything, I need this focus.

Thank You Father for Your Word. I really need it. Help me to keep my focus on the cross of Christ. It is my salvation. Help me to never forget that the ground is level at the cross, all mankind is welcome. My boast or confidence is in Christ’s finished work upon the cross.
